  • Bear on the Square Mountain Festival: The tenth annual event will be held in April in historic downtown Dahlonega. Come celebrate the traditional culture of the Georgia mountains and southern Appalachians. Featuring bluegrass and old-time music, authentic mountain crafts, a country auction, storytelling, dance, children's events, concerts, workshops and lots more.   • Apple Festival: Gilmer County produces 600,000 bushels of apples each fall, so it's only natural that the second and third weekends of October each year, people from all over the nation come to Ellijay to celebrate the apple. They'll have fried pies, apple fritters and many other treats for you apple lovers, with hundreds of booths featuring local craftsmen and artists throughout the Southeast. Handmade arts and crafts, homegrown entertainment, and plain old fun make this a perfect family adventure.

  • Georgia Marble Festival: The first full weekend in October brings a fun-filled celebration of the marble located in Pickens County. The festivities start on Saturday with a road race followed by a parade down Main Street. You can then head over to Lee Newton Park where you can enjoy arts & crafts, live music, clogging & dancing, classic car show, horse race, and a children's area. You also have an opportunity to take a guided tour of the world's largest open-pit marble quarry and mine.

  • Oktoberfest: Oktoberfest is the German word for fun! And what better place to hold the largest party in north Georgia? Well that's in tranquil Helen, Georgia. Helen offers the perfect setting resembling a Bavarian town. This celebration will last for two months during the fall, and each day brings different activities. During the day you can enjoy strolling the streets or relaxing in a beer-garden. But at night be sure to head to the massive Festhalle for authentic German bands, food, beer and fun.
